Carl Richard Bengtson, 96, Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. He was born January 8, 1930, in Chicago, IL to Karl and Mathea (Monkelien) Bengtson.

Carl joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948 and served for four years. During the Korean War he was stationed in Panama. Carl married Joann Hoffman on July 13, 1957. They had five children together and the family settled in Green Bay, WI. Carl worked as a TV/VCR technician with the Morley Murphy Corporation for over 25 years. Carl enjoyed photography, computers, and coin collecting. He loved to travel. In the early years the family traveled throughout the USA in a beat-up old station wagon, fondly referred to as 'the tank'. Later, Carl and Joann would travel the world. They visited their son in Australia and journeyed to his mother's homeland in Norway, where he met family that was still in Oslo. He was a longtime member or St. Jude Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joann; children, Richard Bengtson, Nancy (Ed) Sobieski, Mary (Sam) Wong, Kevin (Theresa) Bengtson, and Linda (Alex) Galt; grandchildren, Brock (Angel) Sobieski, Austin Sobieski, Kevin Wong, Michaela Wong, Johanna Galt, Frida Galt; great-grandchildren, Sydney Belle and Beckett Sobieski; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Mathea; sister, Vivian Bengtson.
