Callista Martha (Ambrosius) Buntman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 1, 2026. Born December 7, 1931 in DePere, WI to Marie (Hartjes) and William Ambrosius. She attended St. Boniface grade school and graduated from Nicolet High School in 1950. On November 26, 1953 she married Richard Buntman and they enjoyed 65 years together before he passed away on March 30, 2019.
Callista is survived by her 5 children; Don (Kendra) Buntman, Deb (Bob) Pfaff, Dan (partner Kim Austin) Buntman, Dawn (Tom) Leaver and Dave (Kristen) Buntman, 10 grandchildren; Laura (Tim) Kowols, Kevin (Morgan) Buntman, Brian Buntman, Dan (Amber Gray) Pfaff, Andy Pfaff, Jacqueline (Brian) Gomez, Wesley Buntman, Kelly (Doug) Plagemann, Denise (Demi) Peters and Valerie (Keagan) Hastreiter. Callista had 14 great grandchildren; Grace, Madison, Dawson, Nora, Bennett, Cedar, Willow, Ezra, Nolan, Alice, Noah, Ephraim, Alanna, Oliver, Aurora and Eden. Also survived by sister Rose Marie Pollatz and brother Bill Ambrosius, sisters-in-law Bea Ambrosius and Shirley Ambrosius.
She was preceded in death by infant son Dennis, husband Richard, sisters Lucina Richardson and Elaine Webb, brothers Roy Ambrosius and Edward Ambrosius, sisters-in-law Patricia Ambrosius, Lois Ambrosius, brothers-in-law Nick Web, Gerald Richardson and Gary Pollatz.
Callista was employed by Wisconsin Job Services for 21 years and she enjoyed camping and spending time at their cabin in northern Wisconsin. After retirement she and Dick travelled the country in their RV before settling as snow birds in Florida. Hobbies included boating and snowmobiling with the family, fishing with Dick and gardening where she enjoyed many years with her beautiful roses and hostas.
Friends and family will gather at SS. Edward & Isidore Parish, 3667 Flintville Rd., from 9:30am to 11am on Friday, May 8; Mass to follow at 11am. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
