Bonnie "Bonsai" (Katzbahn) Vannieuwenhoven, 58, Green Bay, was called home on Thursday, September 14, 2023, with her family by her side after a very courageous year and half battle with cancer. She was born February 17, 1965, in Wisconsin Rapids to Sally Ann (Hearden) and Gaylord Katzbahn.
Bonnie graduated from NWTC with a degree in Criminal Justice. She married Darcy Vannieuwenhoven on May 1, 1999. Bonnie was a free spirit, bright and vibrant, always bringing color and light into the world. She didn't like things dull, everything had to have a splash of color and a touch of music. Bonnie colored the world with her artistic crafts, especially her tie-dye clothing and her beautiful gardens. She loved to cook and bake for everyone, always getting creative with new recipes. Those who knew Bonnie would comment on how kind and selfless she was, always lending a helping hand to anyone she could. Above all she loved her family, her children and her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy and happiness.
She is survived by her husband, Darcy; children Crystal McArdle and Nick Ferry; stepson David Vannieuwenhoven; grandchildren, Ava and Lucas; siblings, Tanya (Walter) Brooks, Mary Capelle, Fawn (Philip Rush) Katzbahn, Theresa (Masanao) Takahashi, Gaylord Katzbahn; lifelong friends, Sheryl Jacobs and Linda Forrest.
In keeping with Bonnie's wishes no formal services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be sent to Unity Hospice in Bonnie's name. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
Bonnie's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Green Bay Oncology and to Unity Hospice, especially Sally and nurses Mary and Ida for their incredible care and compassion.
