Barbara A. Levander, 73, Ashwaubenon passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1953 in Park Ridge, IL to Wilhelm Jr and Gisela (Von der Lippe) Levander.
Barb grew up on Evergreen Lane where she loved swimming with neighborhood friends. She attended Maine East High School and then attended Northern Illinois University where she graduated with a Bachelors in Education. She taught elementary school for a few years until deciding to stay at home to raise her children.
Moving to Waukesha, Barb developed many friendships and enjoyed her "girl's dinners". She worked a variety of jobs while caring for her mom during a long journey with Alzheimer's. Barb had a sweet tooth and always had a pan of brownies on the counter and would never turn down chocolate. She always wanted her house to feel like home through redecorating and rearranging furniture. Countless people relied on her skills as a seamstress. Over the years she created Halloween costumes, clothing, formal dresses, and her daughter's wedding dress.
For the last 26 years of her life, Barb and her significant other, Kent Brown, did a lot of traveling, homed many dogs that she cherished and enjoyed time with her two granddaughters. The two originally met, while walking dogs at their new apartment complex and simply became inseparable.
The most important thing in her life was always her family. She never missed an event of her children or two granddaughters and was always their biggest supporter. Barb loved any time she got to have with Mia and Aida enjoying sleepovers, shopping dates, and attending school and sporting events. There was nothing better than the laughs shared while playing games together.
Barb enjoyed the simple things in her life like gardening flowers, tending to plants and being outside. She also liked her 'me time' in the mornings, so that she could apply her make-up, get dressed and officially take on the day. Barb had a heart of gold and a kind soul that made anyone that met her feel like a friend.
Barb is survived by her children, Leigh (Eric) Destache, Jon Capcik; her granddaughters, Mia, Aida; and her significant other, Kent Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Barb's wishes, no formal services will be held. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to, www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Oak Park Place and Unity Hospice for your compassion and care. They would also like to thank Home Instead's Tina, you were wonderful and kind. As Barb's children, we want to say thank you to Kent for proving our Mom with care, allowing her to stay at home as long as possible.
