Arnold Glenn Van Oss

Arnold "Bud" G. Van Oss, 100, Green Bay, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026. He was born December 31, 1925, to Arnold Sr. and Louise (Raymaker) Van Oss.

Arnold graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1943. He served two years in the U.S. Army Air Forces in WWII. On August 21, 1948, he married the love of his life, Jean Michels at Annunciation Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 2009.

Bud was very proud to have worked at Hoida Lumber Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1988 as operations manager. He enjoyed singing harmony and sang with the Bayland Barbershop Chorus for 33 years. Arnold also sang in church choirs, first at St. Philip and then at SS. Edward and Isidore for over 60 years. He always looked forward to vacations spent with his family "up north" and later he and Jean made numerous trips to Door County. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.

During his life he enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing, fishing, and gardening. He was an active volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul in the data entry area for 11 years, and at his parish, SS. Edward and Isidore working in the office. He was treasurer for the Green Bay East Serra Club for 20 years and prayed often for an increase in Vocations to the Priesthood.

In 1978, he and Jean moved to Westline Road where they enjoyed living on 20 acres of woods for many years. In retirement Bud loved working in the woods. In later years he enjoyed playing cribbage and shooting pool especially with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Marin, Robert "Bob" Van Oss, Bruce (Pam) Van Oss, and William "Bill" (Sue) Van Oss; grandchildren, Melisa (Kevin) Lindamood, Andres Marin, Aaron, Val & Kit Ferris and spouses, Melanie Van Oss, Dara (Daniel) Bass, Joshua Van Oss, Nicholas (Beth) Van Oss, Bridget (Michael) Winn, Caleb Van Oss, Luca (Ali Mohamed) Van Oss; 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was a special dad to Cuban refugees, siblings Roberto and Maria Garcia and Fernando Diaz.

Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, Arnold and Louise; daughter, Liz Ferris; sister, Betty Byers.

Friends and family will gather at SS. Edward & Isidore Parish, 3667 Flintville Rd., from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, August 11; Mass to follow at 11am. Burial will be in SS. Edward and Isidore Cemetery. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.
