Arnold "Arnie" Henry Christens, 93, Green Bay, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, having spent his final days surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 2, 1929, in Green Bay to Charles and Agnes (Tilque) Christens.
Arnie graduated from Central Catholic High School, Class of 1948. He married Donna DeLain on July 14, 1951, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2014. Arnie worked for the Green Bay Press Gazette as a News Photographer, Photo Engraver, and Department Supervisor. In 1993, after 48 years, he retired as Production Director. Arnie enjoyed playing bridge and was a great card player. He could still be found golfing at age 90. As long as he was able, he attended daily mass and was a faith-filled man. Arnie was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. He volunteered as an usher, Eucharistic Minister and Funeral Server. Arnie did volunteer work for St. Vincent de Paul for over 50 years both in the store and as part of the Education Committee. He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Paul) Tubbs of Rhinelander, Gary (Kay) Christens of Green Bay, David (Debbie) Christens of Clive, IA, Steven (Christy) Christens of Evansville, WI, Karen Christens of De Pere; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachael) Christens, Chad (Andrea) Brown, Jennifer (Matt) Herrmann, Michelle (Patrick) Lynch, Michael (fiancée, Vicki Karpeck) Christens, Samantha (Brian) Klaren, Erin Christens, Ryan Christens, Megan Christens, Evan Christens; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Finn Brown, Lucas and Landon Herrmann, Madison, Connor, and Olivia Lynch, Jackson and Elsie Klaren; sister, Ruth (Don) Palubicki; sisters-in-law, Gloria Christens, Yvonne Kabara; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; grandson, Adam Christens; his parents, Charles and Agnes; brother, Ray Christens; parents-in-law, Constant and Naomi DeLain; brother-in-law, Daniel Kabara.
Friends and family will gather at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. celebrated by Fr.
