Allen A. "Al" Grimm, 69, Howard, passed away after a five year courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at home with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 17, 1941, on his family farm in Two Rivers, Wis., to Raymond and Martha (Zimmer) Grimm. From 1959 to 1962, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. On Sept. 21, 1968, he married Patricia Kassner at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was employed at Paper Converting for 41 years, retiring in April of 2009. Al was a lifetime member of the NRA, a recruiter for the NRA, and a Hunter Safety Instructor. He owned and operated Grimm's Small Engine Service from1975 until 2005. Al enjoyed trap shooting. He was passionately proud of his country. Everything he did in life he did 100 percent including loving his family.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Al Mischo, Andria and Chad Rusch; five grandchildren, Taylor and Austin "Schultz" Mischo, Keegan, Gavin and Cadence Rusch; a brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Bonnie Grimm; his close cousins of which he grew up with, Marvin and Merrily Zimmer, Ruben and Cheryl Zimmer, Florence and Romy Decker, Glenn and Mary Ann Zimmer; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lyle Grimm; and a cousin, Dennis Zimmer.

Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 10 a.m. to noon Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Monday at the church with Rev. John Bergstadt officiating.

The family extends a thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice and to Dr. Anthony Jaslowski.
