John E. Mohr, 82, Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006. He was born Nov. 29, 1923, in Manitowoc, Wis. to the late Ava and Lillian Mohr. On Aug. 28, 1948, he married Joanne L'Heureux in Escanaba, Mich. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1941 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in January of 1949 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked on several jobs to support his education, including 1 year surveying for the then C&NW Railway Company. After graduation, he was employed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Green Bay as a civil engineer for 36 years until his retirement in 1986. John was well known for his hard work and the quality of the many engineering projects he was involved with, including the Tilleman Bridge. He enjoyed his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, playing golf and flying single engine airplanes.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Catherine Holck, Tucson, Ariz.; Susan and Dr. James Williams, Dunlap, Ill.; Barbara and Martin Albers, Ashwaubenon; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Barnes, Nicole (Michael) Geniesse, Steve Andrew, Jamey (Jamie) Williams, Jonathan Williams, Lindsey Williams, Joey Michelle Williams, Traver Holck, Tyler Albers and Nicholas Albers; seven great-grandchildren, Emily and Ashley Barnes, Cassie, Andy and Jimmy Geniesse, Devin Andrew, Blake Williams; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Thomas and Darlene Mohr, Manitowoc, Wis.; Wilbur and Lorraine Mohr, Algonquin, Ill.; Robert Mohr, Kingwood, Texas; one sister-in-law, Connie Mohr, Fond du Lac, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Bernice Andrew, Green Bay, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne; two young sons, John and Steven; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and James Andrew; a brother Patrick; and his parents.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 347 S. Libal St., De Pere, from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Seth Richmond officiating. John's family would like to thank Dr. Nichols and the many doctors and nurses at the Mayo hospital in Rochester for their wonderful care and support these past four months.

A memorial fund has been established in John's memory to benefit the American Cancer Society and St. Anne's Episcopal Church.
