Evelyn (Bailey) Mommaerts, 91, Green Bay, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born February 18, 1922 in Paige, ND to George C. and Alvina (Gilson) Bailey. On November 30, 1940, she married Emery H. Mommaerts at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1996.
In Evelyn’s younger years, she enjoyed spending time with her family at their cottage in Door County. She enjoyed playing card games and bowling on a league. Evelyn was known to knit mittens for children in the grade schools in Green Bay. She was a member of St. Joseph parish where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her faith was strong and faithfully prayed the rosary. Evelyn’s greatest blessing in life was the family that she created. She loved any time that she could be with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Roger and Susan Mommaerts, Bruce and Judith Mommaerts, Linda and Ron Daubner, Steven and Debra Mommaerts; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a sister, Georgia Neumeyer; a brother-in-law, Pete Behrendt; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emery; two grandsons, Darin and Christopher Daubner; an infant great-grandson; two sisters, Eunice (Ambrose) Keyzer, Elaine Behrendt; a brother-in-law, Francis Neumeyer.
Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, corner of Ninth St. and Twelve Ave., from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon Wednesday at the church.
