Edward H. Bergner, 70, a native of Green Bay, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Green Bay, to the late Harold and Mary (DelMarcelle) Bergner. Edward served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed talking about his time in Alaska while serving. On Nov. 28, 1964, he married Bobbie Zuehlke in Suring. Ed had been employed by Fort Howard Paper Company for 34 years in Green Bay, Muskogee, Okla., and Rincon, Ga. He was also employed by Albany International until recently. Ed was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie; his children and their spouses, Robbie Bergner, Paul Bergner, Bill and Gabriela Bergner, John and Katie Bergner; four grandchildren, Keristy Nieto, Alyson Bergner, Claire Bergner, Evan Bergner; one great-granddaughter, Addison Nieto; his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Kathleen and Robert “Bob” Stollberg, Mary Lou Kroening, Linda and Peter Beth, Pat and Karen Bergner, David and Lori Bergner, Harrison “Harry” and Myra Bergner; nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Heather Zuehlke.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William “Bill” Bergner; and a brother-in-law, Richard Kroening.
Friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St., from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, APRIL 4. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Wednesday, APRIL 4, at the church with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
