Joanne Marie Jensen, 80, Bellevue, passed away Wednesday, March, 21, 2012, with her daughters and sons-in-law by her side. She was born Aug. 26, 1931, in Escanaba, Mich., to the late Joseph and Margaret Rouse.
Joanne graduated from Escanaba High School. She married and settled in Schofield, Wis., where she started raising her five children. Years later she and her three youngest children relocated to Green Bay. She worked for Murphy Supply, Road Star Inn, and Austin Straubel Airport. In 1996, she retired to Rio Rancho, N.M., where she fell in love with the scenery and the weather. She quickly became involved in volunteer work at the Chamber of Commerce, where she was voted volunteer of the year, City Hall and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Joanne returned to Green Bay in 2006 for health reasons. She settled in De Pere and later at Bellevue Independent & Assisted Living. She was involved in various groups. Joanne also enjoyed playing cards, domino’s, reading, shopping, traveling, and going to the movies. She lived life to its fullest, always had to be kept busy.
Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Dr. Steve (Pat) Jensen, North Oaks, Minn.; David (Jacie) Jensen, Rio Rancho, N.M.; Jeff (Jean) Jensen, Dyckesville; two daughters and their spouses, Marcia (Andy) Shandor, Green Bay; Susan (Tim) Gilson and Tim’s son, Jake, Green Bay; six grandchildren, Erica, Brian, Amanda, Cassandra, Abby and Emily; one niece, Betty Taylor; and three great-grandchildren.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald; one sister, Evelyn; her brother-in-law, Walter and sister-in-law, Mae.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the corner of Suburban Dr. and Lourdes Ave., West De Pere, at 1:30 p.m. Monday for a Memorial Mass with Fr. Our family would like to thank the staff of the St. Vincent Critical Care Unit and Dr. Kiefer, Dr. Reckard, Dr. Al Shahrouri, and Dr. Andrews. A special thank you to her nurses, Samantha, Tanya, Katie, Lindsey and Jody for the wonderful care you gave to our mother. You ladies were our rock and should be proud to be nurses. To all of the other nurses who took care of our mother we thank you! Thank you also to the staff and nurses at Bellevue Independent & Assisted Living.
Dear Mom, I said a prayer for you to thank the Lord above for blessing me with a lifetime of your tenderhearted love.
I thanked God for the caring you’ve shown me through the years, for the closeness we’ve enjoyed In time of laughter and of tears.
And so, I thank you from the heart for all you’ve done for me and I bless the Lord for giving me the best Mother there could be.
