Michael Philbin, 21, died in a tragic accident Sunday, January 8, 2012. He was born December 28, 1990, and was a Dean’s List junior at Ripon College in Ripon, WI.
Michael was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, and citizen. He loved the Packers, the Red Sox, politics, and academic life at Ripon.
Michael’s true passion was his family and friends with whom he enjoyed spending time. Michael faced adversity with courage and, with quiet strength, overcame life’s obstacles. Michael had an unwavering focus on his goals and inspired all who knew him. His selfless nature, warm smile and loving way will be forever sustained.
Michael is survived by his parents, Joseph A. and Diane M. (Donahue) Philbin, his loving brothers, 1st Lt. Matthew J., John P., Kevin C., Timothy J. and his loving sister, Colleen M., his paternal grandparents, Paul E. and Mary B. Philbin of Longmeadow, Massachusetts and maternal grandmother, Rosemary A. Bushnell of Medford, New Jersey. He was the adored nephew of 12 aunts, 13 uncles, and loved by his 29 first cousins.
He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Katherine M. and his maternal grandfather, William A. Bushnell.
Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. Friends may also call at the church from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan 13. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
